Students will also learn how to deal with anatomy and the rules for portrait drawing. Drawing from the model is provided for the portfolio students. The program will be introduced step by step through practical exercises as well as lessons in theory. We also help you to develop the creative potential that is undoubtedly inside you and to make it reality in order to create lively attractive sketches. This workshop is beneficial for all students who are willing to apply to art program, preparing A Level & O Level Art portfolios, college or university like NCA. If you have already done your portfolio or you just want to start and you need some advice or critic, this workshop is for you! For most university and college art programs and private art schools, your portfolio will play a determining factor in your admission. The most important detail of preparing your portfolio for college admissions is to remember to give yourself plenty of time and have fun with it. It is almost impossible to create quality work if you are nervous and under a time constraint. Don’t wait until the last minute, and make enough work so you can edit together the best portfolio for each school you plan to apply to.

Life Drawing: Portfolio Preparation for College and University
Life drawing is the foundation for your portfolio, whether you are applying for Design, Fine Arts or Architecture in college or university. Three areas of drawing will be explored in this course – drawing from the figure, drawing the portrait drawing. Students should be prepared on the first day to draw with black pencil on 18” x 24” drawing pad.
Introduction to Figure Drawing
Study the classic figure as you learn formal drawing techniques. This simple and accessible approach will reveal a richer understanding of what it is to draw the human form. Classes have group and individual instruction. All levels welcome.
Life Drawing Fundamentals: Focus on Comparative Proportion
Spend a morning further developing your life drawing foundational skills – Each session offers techniques, approaches and advice for drawing the figure from life. Plenty of group and individual instruction provided. Drawing experience necessary.Understanding comparative proportion and anatomy is integral to drawing the figure convincingly. In this session, we’ll study the head, hands and feet, identify weight carrying muscles and engage in a discussion of landmarks.
Portrait Drawing and Painting
Capture the complexity and grace of the human subject as you work in any drawing or painting medium. We will have live model. Students interested in working on longer sustained or larger pieces might consider registering for double classes
